May 2022

Greetings from Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico. We are grateful for the blessings bestowed upon us during the month of May. There were various activities this month that we would like to share with you.

Mother’s Day

Sunday, May 7th, was Mother’s Day, and all the mothers were honored in the Grand Vision Baptist Church, our missions, and our churches. There was special music and messages from God’s Word. Each mother was presented with a gift.

Bible Institute Graduation

We celebrated our Bible Institute graduation on May 25th. Two young men and one young lady graduated from our Institute this year. Arturo, one of our graduates, has gone to the community of Nahueachi to visit and get acquainted with the people where he is going to start a new mission. He will be returning to help out with our annual youth camp in July. He hopes to bring some young people with him to attend this great event. Tomas and Cindy will be returning in September to continue in the 4th year Missions Course of the Institute. Pray for the Bible Institute enrollment in September, that God will touch the hearts of young people to dedicate their lives to serve the Lord in full-time service. There are several that have informed us that they will be entering the Institute in the fall. Also, pray for enrollment of our middle school and high school in the Christian school.

Japan Missionary Update

We received a newsletter from our missionaries to Japan, Carlos and Belem Madrigal. I would like to share a portion of it with you all.

“We have been in Japan for two months now and have seen the hand of the Lord’s work in every step of our lives. We have been very busy with language school. We met a missionary family that has been here a little over a year. He is Japanese and they have been a great help in many important transactions. It has been a blessing to meet them. They invited us to their home at the end of May, and we attended an Independent Baptist Church service last Sunday. It was a blessing to be in their service. We are arranging our schedule to attend the services on weekends. Also, pray that we can find a larger apartment. The one we have is very small and we are not permitted to have visitors. Thank you for your prayers.”

A Special Thank You

A special thanks to those of you who sent money for tires for the vehicle that is used to go to the mission in Natahuachi. God Bless You!

Panalachi Baptist Church

Last month 5 people visited the church for the first time. They came from the small community of Quimova, a two-hour walk from Panalachi. Two were saved during a special Children’s Day service. Pray that Jimena and Edgar will be faithful in the church in Panalachi. God is blessing the mission in Ocorochi, a two-hour drive. They visit the mission once a month and usually have around 50 in attendance.

Prayer Requests

We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these challenging and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name. The following is a list of our current prayer requests:

  • Our youth camp will be held from July 18th through the 21st. Pray that God will bless this event.
  • Continue praying for Missionary Bonifacio Gonzales and his cancer treatments.
  • Pray that God would supply the funds to repair the house and the church in La Junta. Brother Luis Carlos and his family will be moving there in July.

We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.

Sincerely in Him,

Mrs. Joan Kahler
Missionary to Mexico

that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
