Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, and its missions in the mountains of northwest Mexico. We appreciate your faithful prayers and support. A special “Thank You” to those that sent special offerings this month. I would like to share with you the following report for July:
We are thankful for the faithfulness of church members that are attending the special courses. Some are now teaching Sunday school classes, singing in the choir, and helping with our Vacation Bible School. The COVID-19 crisis has diminished, but the problem persists. We are thankful that no one in the church has been sick and that we are somewhat isolated from the public.
Christian School Update
Although we have not had indication from the Department of Education that we will be able to open our schools for the new school year, we are moving forward with preparations to receive our high school and Bible Institute students. Our classes are scheduled to begin on August 30th. We are praying that we will be able to open our schools as scheduled.
Vacation Bible School
The theme of our Vacation Bible School this year was “Pequeños Embajadores” (Little Ambassadors) based on II Corinthians 5:20. The average attendance each day was 60 children and 21 children accepted Christ during this year’s events. The following Sunday morning, seven children who attended VBS were in Sunday School for the first time.
Natahuachi Baptist Mission
God blessed our Sunday School campaign with good attendance and with 15 first-time visitors. One lady, Adilene, accepted Christ.
La Junta Mission
There was good attendance, and we had many visitors during our Vacation Bible School. A lot of children were brought in from surrounding communities to participate.
The Panalachi Mission will hold their Vacation Bible School in August. Pray for them. Brother Mario Zavala reports that God is working among the Tarahumara Indians. Two girls who attend regularly were saved. The girls invited their father, and last Sunday he accepted Christ. Pray for Benjamin, Josefina, and Carmen. Also, pray for the mission’s anniversary service in September and for the organization of the mission into a church.
We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these challenging and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name. The following is a list of our current prayer requests:
- Pray for the salvation of souls in the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its missions.
- Pray for protection from organized crime and from the Coronavirus.
- Pray especially for the mission in Natahuachi that more men will attend.
- Pray for Pastor Jose and the 11 workers. That God will supply their financial, physical and spiritual needs.
We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.
Sincerely in Him,
Mrs. Joan Kahler
