June 2021

Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church and our missions in the mountains of northwest Mexico. God is blessing His Word as He has promised. Pastor Jose Martinez and those in charge of the missions share the following reports and prayer needs:

Church Update

We are thankful for God’s blessings upon us. We celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday, June 30th. There were 18 fathers, along with their families, in attendance for the special service. We will begin teaching courses to prepare some of our men and women church members to teach Sunday school classes and to serve in other areas in the church. Please pray for them, that they will absorb the teaching and apply it to God’s work. So far, we have ten men and ten women enrolled. Mrs. Flora Batres, one of the Bible Institute teachers and Pastor Martinez will be teaching the classes. We are also busy painting and repairing our dormitories and classrooms in preparation for the beginning of high school classes at the end of August. We are trusting that we will have permission from the state government to begin the school year.

Natahuachi Mission

God is blessing the services in this mission with regular attendance. This month we painted the church building inside and out. The people were happy and enthusiastic about helping. Pray for the Sunday school campaign that will begin soon. It is based on Proverbs 8:19, “Mejor es mi fruto que el oro.” (My fruit is better than gold). Pray that we will be able to reach new families in Natahuachi with the Gospel.

Panalachi Mission

Thank you for your prayers and offerings that make it possible for us to take the Gospel to the Tarahumara Indian Tribe here in the village of Panalachi. We are thankful for God’s blessings that we received in June. Six men were present for the special Father’s Day service. Pray for the salvation of two young ladies that have been attending the services. Also, we are thankful that the Lord provided funds to repair one of our vehicles. Pray for the faithfulness of church members, and that souls will be saved and baptized.

La Junta Mission

There was an average attendance of 30 people in Sunday School. Two people were saved in June. We are planning two Vacation Bible Schools this month. Please pray for the salvation of souls. Also pray that God will supply the funds to fix a “leaky roof” in the children’s classroom.

Kipor Mission

God continues to bless the work here in the region. Two people were saved in Villa Juarez, and nine were saved in Kipor. Pray for the salvation of souls and for our health.

Prayer Requests

We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these challenging and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name. The following is a list of our current prayer requests:

  • Pray that new students will enter our Bible Institute which begins on September 1st.
  • Pray that the state government will give us permission to open our Christian School in August.
  • Pray for Pastor Jose Martinez and our 11 full-time workers, that God may guide them & keep them safe.

We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.

Sincerely in Him,

Mrs. Joan Kahler
Missionary to Mexico
