October 2020

Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its ministries in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico. Thank you again for your faithful prayers and support that make it possible to take the Gospel to lost souls in this part of Northwest Mexico.

Church Update

Pastor Jose Martinez reports that, amid all that is going on in the world, souls are being saved and Christians are being strengthened spiritually. During the month of October, we were able to hold services while following local restrictions. We had about one hundred people in attendance for Sunday services. Three people were saved during this period. Like many communities in the United States, the Mexican government has adopted a color-coded system to measure the severity of the pandemic. On the first of November, the state of Chihuahua declared the situation “Red”, indicating the most severe state. People are now mandated to quarantine for fifteen days. Some people in the church and in our missions have lost their lives due to the virus. Our hospitals are operating at capacity. Pray for our protection.

Panalachi Mission Update

Two people were saved during the month of October. Pray for Missionary Mario Zavala and his family as they continue teaching and preaching the Gospel to the Tarahumara Tribe.

La Junta Mission Update

The mission in La Junta had good attendance in their services. Three people were saved during the month of October. Brother Luis Carlos Saenz and his wife Candi are faithfully serving this mission. Please keep them in your prayers.

Natahuachi Mission Update

God is blessing the mission in Natahuachi. Two people accepted Christ as their savior. Pray for Brother Adriel, his wife Jackie and their family. Also, pray for the salvation of the people of this community.

Kipor Mission Update

Pray for Missionary Bonifacio, his wife Adriana and their family as they work with the Mayo and Pima Tribes. Also, pray for Brother Bonifacio’s health as he continues to heal from the leg injuries that he suffered many years ago.

Saddened Hearts

Our hearts are saddened to hear of the homegoing of Pastor Gerald Wood. We will be forever grateful to Brother Wood, the Rio Grande Baptist Church and the Tower Road Baptist Church for their spiritual support and sacrificial offerings given to us when my late husband Louis and I went to the mountains in Bocoyna, Chihuahua to start the work among the Tarahumara Tribe and Mexican people.

Prayer Requests

We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these unusual and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name.

Thank You for your prayers for my health. I have had Cataract Surgery and am thankful that it was a success.

The following is a list of our current prayer requests:

  • Pray for the protection of our workers and Bible Institute students from COVID-19 and from organized crime.
  • Pray for the faithfulness of the Christians and for the salvation of souls in the Grand Vision Baptist Church and our missions.
  • Please continue to pray for my health.

We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.

Sincerely in Him,

Mrs. Joan Kahler
