February 2017

Published by The Kahlers on

February is always a special month at the Grand Vision Baptist Church. Our campaign last month was “Mes de Amor” (“Month of Love”). We had new visitors, souls were saved and blessings were bestowed upon us in many ways.

Special emphasis was placed on each of the four Sundays in February. Members and friends brought 28 first-time visitors, six people were saved and eight made decisions for baptism. We had a contest to see who could memorize the most Bible verses. A middle school student, Reyna Orozco, memorized 316 verses, and she received a beautiful Bible as a reward. The last Sunday was the 29th anniversary of the GVBC. Pastor Miguel Guillen from Gethsemane Baptist Church in San Pedro, Coahuila, was the special speaker. This is always a time of gratitude to God for all His blessings upon us. “To God be the glory, great things He hath done.” Around 300 people came from the town of Bocoyna, the bus routes and from two of our missions. Brother Mario from the Panalachi Mission brought 42 people and Brother Eliezer from Rock of Ages Mission in Natahuachi brought 35.

God supplied funds to buy two new wood-burning water heaters for the dormitories. They are installed and working! We are also thankful for a new Bible Institute student. Luis Homobono is from the Otomi Indian Tribe. He is a member of the Horeb Baptist Church located in Santa Maria del Monte near Toluca, Mexico. Pray for Luis as he prepares to serve the Lord.

The following is a list of our current prayer requests:

  • Pray for an increase in our monthly support. Inflation is on the rise and it has been difficult to cover our expenses.
  • Pray for our Easter Vacation Bible School being held April 17th through the 20th in Bocoyna. The elementary school is loaning us their classrooms. Pray that we may be able to reach new children for Christ.
  • Pray for the construction of a church building in Natahuachi. They currently meet in a small room. A group of men from GVBC are going in April to help with the construction. They still need funds to buy construction materials.

We deeply appreciate your faithful prayers and financial support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.

Sincerely in Him,

Mrs. Joan Kahler
