Letter Announcing Rev. Louis Kahler’s Passing

March 27, 2011 - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of my dear husband, Rev., Dr. Louis Edwin Kahler, last Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 10:30 PM local time. His sudden passing was a surprise, one that none of us could prepare for. This has indeed been a very difficult year given the passing of our youngest son, Randy Alan Kahler, on March 25,  2010. Our strength in the Lord will see us through this...

May 5, 2011 - Dear Friends in Christ,  As many of you are aware by now, my dearly beloved husband passed away last March 24, 2011 from heart failure. He was laid to rest in the local municipal cemetery in Cuauhtémoc City in the state of Chihuahua.  Starting last Christmas, he began writing a lengthy letter to send to all the supporting churches and individuals. Unfortunately, he was not able to complete it prior to his passing. It is my desire to send you some of the material he wrote...

July 15, 2012 -  The month of June was very busy with our preparation for graduation and other activities. We rejoice in the Lord’s blessings upon the Grand Vision Baptist Church and the Baptist Educational Complex.  Our church has been blessed during the month of June with 22 souls saved and four baptized. The average attendance was 380. All the students from our Christian school, RAHOBI INDIGENA (Bilingual Ranch Home), returned to their homes for vacation on July 1st . They will be back when school begins again on August 15th.

June 15, 2012 -  We have much to be thankful for this month. The words of the song, “Jesus Never Fails” are still true.  We had many activities during the month of May including our annual Mother’s Day celebration. We held our annual celebration on Sunday, May 13th. There were 140 mothers present, 70 of which were Tarahumara Indians. As is our tradition each year, we celebrate the mothers with the most children present, the wisest and the most faithful.

May 15, 2012 -  Once again we are thankful for the opportunity to inform you of the blessings of our Lord upon the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its ministries in Bocoyna, Chihuahua.  We thank the Lord for the marvelous way that God is working in our church. Every Sunday at least one soul was saved. Nine people came forward to receive Christ as their personal Savior and five came forward to be baptized in the month of April. The average attendance was 380. Praise God!

March 2012 Newsletter

April 15, 2012 -  We are thankful for the Lord’s blessings upon the Grand Vision Baptist Church here in Bocoyna, Chihuahua Mexico. During the month of March we witnessed 18 people come forward to receive the Lord as their personal savior, 16 for baptism and many others to rededicate their lives to the Lord.  Our church is moving forward with its missionary vision. We are faithfully taking the Gospel to the Tarahumara tribe and spreading God’s word in the rural areas across this immense mountain range.

March 15, 2012 -  Greetings once again from the Grand Vision Baptist Church and the Baptist Educational Complex in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico! We celebrated our 24th  anniversary last month. God continues to bless us in ways we never expected. This further fuels our commitment to serve Him and to spread His Word.  We organized an Evangelistic Campaign in the month of February to win souls for Christ. We planned a special service each of the four Sundays along the theme of Love.

February 15, 2012 -  Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church and the Baptist Educational Complex in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico! We are thankful for the blessings we have received, and we look forward to serving Him in the months and years to come. The following is a report from our local pastor & our missionaries.  The 6th of January we had a special dinner and fellowship with the adult Sunday School class with more than 100 in attendance, 5 of which accepted Christ as their Savior.

January 15, 2012 -  This has been a year of trials and very difficult times, but we are thankful for God’s grace, protection, and power and for all the blessings that He has bestowed upon us. The work goes forward, and we are expecting great things in the New Year. I would like to share with you some of the blessings of in 2011.   We believe God has many more blessings in store for us so we have set some goals for 2012, and we need your prayers to help achieve them.

December 15, 2011 -   On behalf of the Grand Vision Baptist Church and the Baptist Educational Complex, we are grateful for your prayers and offerings during 2011. God has so wonderfully supplied our needs and we praise and thank Him.  We have made some organizational changes in our Sunday School and visitation programs which have resulted in tremendous growth. Our visitation program has seen the most impact. We have organized an evangelistic team that is visiting in the mountains where the Tarahumara Indians live.

November 15, 2011 -  We are thankful for God’s blessings upon the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its ministries during the month of October.  God has answered the prayers of the Gutierrez – Batres family, Missionaries to the Tepehuan Tribe in Mezquetal, Durango, by  providing a beautiful home. They have been praying for a new home for years!  We thank the Lord that He permitted the Grand Vision Baptist Church to have a part in fulfilling this prayer.

October 15, 2011 -   The month of September was a month of many blessings from the Lord. During the month, we saw 36 people accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and a total of 36 were baptized in the Grand Vision Baptist Church. The average attendance for September was 464. The members of the Church are enthusiastic about witnessing to others about Christ. There were 60 first-time visitors that came during the month. We are thankful for our faithful workers, and we pray that God may guide them and strengthen them.

September 15, 2011 -   On behalf of the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its ministries, we want to thank you for your faithful support and prayers. August 1st through the 5th we had our first youth camp here on the campus of the Baptist Educational Complex. The theme was “Valientes por Cristo” (“Be brave for Christ”).  Over one hundred young people attended. They came from many of the major cities in the state of Chihuahua as well as from the states of Sinaloa, Michoacán, Baja California and Durango.

August 15, 2011 -  July was a very special missionary month for the Grand Vision Baptist Church here in Bocoyna, Mexico. Pastor Jose Martinez and his family made an extensive missionary trip covering ten states in Mexico. They visited four missionary families that work with different tribes as well as six established pastors. July 15, 2011 -  Greetings from Mexico once again!  The Lord continues to bless the work at the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Our prayers are being answered, and God continues to touch the hearts of the wonderful people here in the area.  We began the month of June with activities for the graduates of the 2010-2011 school year.  This year, we graduated 50 students from kindergarten, elementary school, high school and the Bible Institute.

August 15, 2012 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church! Thank you again for your prayers and faithfulness in supporting the work here in Bocoyna, Mexico. The Lord continues to bless us, and we are delighted to continue to serve Him in spreading the Gospel to His people in this mountainous area.  The highlight of the month was our annual Youth Camp. The theme this year was "Decision 2012." We had 150 campers; 25 were saved, 10 made a decision to be baptized, and 15 surrendered their lives to serve the Lord.

September 15, 2012 - We praise the Lord for the blessings we received in the month of August. Fifty people received the Lord as their Savior. Church members are accepting responsibilities in the church; in visitation, teaching Sunday School, driving buses and singing in the choir.  Thank you for your prayers and offerings.  They make these blessings possible.

October 15, 2012 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church! God continues to bless us here in Mexico. We had an average attendance of 400 during the month of September. We witnessed 45 people accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Sixteen followed Him in baptism.

November 15, 2012 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church! God continues to bless us here in the mountains of northwest Mexico. In the month of October our average attendance was 300. Five accepted Christ and 14 were baptized.  Pray for their spiritual growth and faithfulness.

December 15, 2012 -  November has always been a special month for me. I was born on November 2nd - eighty years ago! I am thankful for my two births; the first in 1932 and my spiritual birth in October 1948. I surrendered my life to serve the Lord in September 1950. I am thankful for good health to continue in His service.

January 15, 2013 -  "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to all! God continues to bless the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its missions. We are grateful for the many souls that were saved in 2012. There are still many around us that need "their eyes opened, to be turned from darkness to the light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins...." Pray for the Grand Vision Baptist Church, pastor Martinez and staff in 2013. Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial help in 2012.

January 2013 Newsletter

February 15, 2013 -  We had very cold weather here in the mountains during the month of January.  One week had 3 inches of snow.  The farmers did not complain as we are in need of rain.  Every little bit will be good for their crops this spring.

The spiritual blessings came also.  There were 4 saved, some made decisions for baptism and many came forward consecrating their lives to serve the Lord better in 2013.

March 15, 2013 -   February was truly a month of many blessings for which we give the Lord all the honor and glory! February is the month of our annual Sunday School campaign - "February, Month of Love." We had four special Sundays, the last Sunday being the Grand Vision Baptist Church's anniversary. This year we celebrated our 25th anniversary. Our goal for our anniversary Sunday School attendance was 600. The Lord blessed us with 675 in attendance. Of the 675, 60% were Tarahumara. Twenty were saved and 9 baptized during February.

April 15, 2013 -   Greetings from Mexico!  We would like to share with you the blessings we received in the Grand Vision Baptist Church, the Christian schools and in the missions during the month of March. The combined average attendance of GVBC and missions was 375, 21 were saved and 15 baptized. Five of those baptized are from the new mission in Panalachi.

May 15, 2013 -    April was another month filled with many blessings! It began with a mission trip to the southern part of Mexico for the teachers and students of the Bible Institute. They took the church bus and covered more than 2,000 miles. Their trip took them through deserts, mountains and forests and even across rivers without bridges.   The purpose of this trip was to visit the different Indian Tribes; the Huastecos, Nàhuatl and Tepehuan.

June 15, 2013 - May was a great month at the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Mexico.  The average attendance in May was 370.  Six were saved, twenty were baptized and two surrendered their lives for full-time service.  Those that surrendered their lives will enter the Bible Institute in September.  Some of them are facing opposition at home.  Please pray that God may give them strength and wisdom.

July 15, 2013 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church!  The Lord continues to bless us here in the mountains of Mexico.  Our church continues to grow and the missions are doing well. GVBC UPDATE - Sunday, June 16th, Father`s Day, GVBC was blessed with 40 fathers present.  Two accepted Christ.  Two Sundays ago, Mario and Irma Rios were baptized.  Mario immediately wanted to work for the Lord.

August 15, 2013 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Mexico!  We are thankful for the abundance of blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us.  July was a very special month.  During the month we had a special Sunday School campaign and a good Youth Camp.

September 15, 2013 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church and the Baptist Educational Complex in Bocoyna, Chihuahua Mexico. August was another month of great blessings. We are thankful for the drought-breaking rainy season that began the first of July as well as for the many spiritual blessings.

October 15, 2013 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Mexico!  Bible Institute classes began on September 2nd with an enrollment of 22 students.  We have 14 new students this year!  Ten are from Grand Vision Baptist Church, and four are from the mission in Panalachi.We have been praying that God would call young people into his service, and we are thankful for the 22 that He has sent us to prepare to serve Him.

November 15, 2013 - God has blessed the Gran Vision Baptist Church and its ministries greatly during the month of October.  We deeply appreciate your prayers and financial help. The average attendance during the month of October was 340.  Of those attending, 220 are from the Christian Schools and 120 are from Bocoyna and the surrounding communities.   Nineteen were baptized, seventeen from the schools and two from Bocoyna.

November 2013 Newsletter

December 15, 2013 - December is always a joyful time here at the Grand Vision Baptist Church, the Bible Institute and the Children’s Home.  Preparations for the Christmas activities began the last week of November. The Christmas party will be held on the 17th and includes a dinner, gifts, Christmas carols and a message about the birth of our Savior. We are thankful that God has wonderfully supplied for our needs.

January 15, 2014 - We are truly thankful for the blessings God has bestowed upon the Grand Vision Baptist Church, Christian Schools, Bible Institute and Missions during 2013.  Thank you for praying and giving to God’s work here in Bocoyna and the surrounding areas.  We are looking forward to the New Year and are praying that many souls will be saved, baptized and that many surrender their lives to serve the Lord.

February 15, 2014 - We praise the Lord for His goodness and blessings during the month of January.  The members of the Grand Vision Baptist Church are being faithful in witnessing and serving the Lord. Souls are being saved!  Two were baptized last Sunday and six were saved this month.  The average attendance in the Adult Sunday School Class is 120.  Most have been saved and about 80% have been baptized.  Pray for their growth in God`s Word.

February 2014 Newsletter

March 15, 2014 - February was a month of many blessings!  We had our “Febrero, Mes de Amor” (February, Month of Love) Sunday School campaign again this year.  There were 150 first-time visitors that came during the 4 Sundays.  Sixteen were saved and 3 were baptized.  Mrs. Hortencia Gonzalez won first place by bringing 50 first-time visitors.  Pray for them, that we might win them to the Lord during our follow-up visits.  We also had a scripture memorization contest in the Sunday School during February.

March 2014 Newsletter

April 15, 2014 - March was full of blessings!  Fifteen people accepted Christ as their Savior, twenty were baptized, many Christians dedicated their lives to serve the Lord more faithfully and some accepted responsibilities in the church. Our students will be leaving for Easter break from April 11th and will return on May 6th. The majority of the students accept Christ as Savior while here in school and three-fourths of them are baptized.  It takes some of them two days to return home.

May 15, 2014 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Chihuahua!  The work continues to go forward, and God continues to bless us here in the mountains of Mexico.  Six people were saved, and 13 were baptized in April. We are thankful for the faithfulness of the members.  It is a blessing to see them grow in the Lord and make decisions for Him.  We have seen the attendance grow especially in the Wednesday night Bible study and prayer service.  April 9th we observed the Lord`s Supper.

June 15, 2014 - We held a series of activities at the Grand Vision Baptist Church during the month of May.  Pastor Martinez preached a series of messages on the home.  The attendance was good, and 8 were baptized.  We celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 11th.  We were blessed to have 80 mothers present at the service and to see two of them be saved on this very special day.

July 15, 2014 - Greetings from Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico!  Three souls were saved as the Gospel was taken door to door in June in the surrounding area.  Four people were saved during our services at the Grand Vision Baptist Church and two were baptized.  A man and his wife were saved on Fathers Day.  Thirty fathers attended the service.

August 15, 2014 - Greetings from the mission field and the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Mexico!  July was a fantastic month filled with blessings. The average attendance was 250 despite the Christian School students being on vacation. Our local members attended faithfully and many brought visitors.  Six were saved and four followed the Lord in baptism during our services. God also blessed the new Sunday School campaign.

October 15, 2014 - Greetings once again from the Grand Vision Baptist Church located in Bocoyna Mexico.  The Lord continues to touch the hearts of the people here in Mexico!  The month of September was “Missions Month.”  God blessed us in marvelous ways!  We had guest pastors preach during the month, and we saw many people come forward to accept Christ as their savior.  In total, 32 people were saved this month.

October 2014 Newsletter

November 15, 2014 - October was a wonderful month of blessings at the Grand Vision Baptist Church. We praise the Lord for the way He has answered our prayers.  We had 17 first-time visitors, 13 people accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior and seven followed the Lord in Baptism.   We started a new Sunday School series teaching the book of Revelation.  Everyone is interested to know the events of the last days.  They are motivated to be more faithful and to bring people to hear the Word of God, understanding that Christ will be coming soon.

November 2014 Newsletter

December 15, 2014 - November is the month when we set aside additional time to give thanks to God for His blessings upon us.  We have seen His power manifested in many ways.  Four souls accepted Christ this month.  December is the month that we remember the birth of our Savior.  Luke 2:11  “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

January 15, 2015 - We trust that the Lord has been most gracious to you and yours during this special season.  Here in Bocoyna, God blessed us during 2014 in a marvelous way.  All the praise and glory go to Him!  We are thankful to all of you who have prayed and given so that souls could hear the Gospel and be saved.

February 15, 2015 - The first Sunday of 2015 greeted us with a five-inch snowstorm that made transportation around our mountainous area difficult and at time treacherous.  The members that could come were faithful despite the storm.  Pastor Martinez preached messages of prayer and revival at the beginning of the year.  The members are growing spiritually and they are learning how to win souls for Christ.

March 15, 2015 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Mexico!  Once again we want to share with you the wonderful blessings received during the month of February. The Lord blessed the “Mes del Amor” (Month of Love) Sunday school campaign held last month.  We had 48 first-time visitors, six people were saved, three came for baptism and many re-dedicated their lives to the Lord.

April 15, 2015 - The month of March was full of blessings in Grand Vision Baptist Church.  Eight people accepted Christ as their Savior, thirteen students were baptized and the altars were filled with people bringing their burdens to the Lord and praying for their lost loved ones.  We are thankful for the members that are faithful to the services and for those that participate in other activities of the church – such as teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and going on visitation.

May 15, 2015 - Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church located in the beautiful mountains of northwest Mexico!  We celebrated Easter on Sunday April 5th.  It is common for people in remote areas like ours to travel to the larger cities during the Easter holiday period.  In addition, our Christian School students return home for the holidays. Despite this, we had good attendance and also had some first-time visitors.  Two people were saved during the month of April, and two people made decisions for baptism.

June 15, 2015 - Greetings from Bocoyna, Chihuahua!  May is one of the busiest months of the year for us at the Grand Vision Baptist Church.  We would like to share with you some of the blessings we received: MOTHERS DAY:  In Mexico, we celebrate Mother’s day on May 10th every year. This year it fell on a Sunday so our service was even more special.  Sixty mothers attended this special Sunday morning service, and one of the mothers accepted Christ as her Savior.

August 15, 2015 - We thank the Lord for your faithful payers and financial support for the work here in Bocoyna.  July was another wonderful month at the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Mexico.  Our Sunday School campaign was based on Colossians 2:6-7, “Rooted and Built Up in Him.”   We had a total of 15 first-time visitors, four people were saved, and four came forward for baptism.  In addition, many Christians came forward to consecrate their life to the Lord.

As we mentioned in our last letter, September was dedicated to missions. The theme for the campaign was “Arrebatándolos del Fuego.” , based on Jude 1:23.

November 15, 2016 -  Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church located in Bocoyna, Chihuahua Mexico. We continue to receive God’s blessings here in the mountains of Mexico. We saw God’s power manifested in many ways during the month of October. Ten people were saved, and eight were baptized in the Grand Vision Baptist Church. We had an average attendance of 150 people.

December 15, 2016 -  Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church located in Bocoyna, Chihuahua Mexico. We are very grateful for your faithful prayers and financial help so that we may "declare his glory and wonders" among the different tribes and people throughout Mexico. God blessed our Sunday school campaign "Tesoros en el Cielo" (Treasures in Heaven).

January 15, 2017 -  HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! We are grateful for the souls that were saved and others that made decisions for Christ in the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its missions in 2016. ‘There are still many that need their eyes opened, to be turned from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins." (Acts 26:18).


January 2017 Newsletter

February 15, 2017 -  January began with God’s blessings upon the Grand Vision Baptist Church.  Six were saved and seven made decisions for baptism.  There were several first-time visitors in attendance. We will be celebrating our 29th anniversary in February.

March 15, 2017 -  February is always a special month at the Grand Vision Baptist Church.  Our campaign last month was “Mes de Amor” (“Month of Love”).  We had new visitors, souls were saved and blessings were bestowed upon us in many ways.

April 15, 2017 -  Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico.  God has been working miracles.  After thirty years of witnessing to the people in the village of Bocoyna, many are responding to the Gospel.  Six were saved this month, others have made decisions to be baptized.
