Missions Trip

March 2016 - Our Bible Institute students and teachers left the last week of March for a missions trip to the state of Sonora. The purpose was to visit some of the missionaries that are working among different tribes.

Their first visit was to Pastor Ramon Bustillos in the Kipor Mission.  The mission is doing well. They are winning souls and the new converts are growing. Brother Bustillos is of the Pima tribe and preaches in their local dialect.

Next they traveled to Cd. Obregon, where Missionary Bonifacio and family are working. Brother Bonifacio suffered a terrible accident nearly one year ago.   His health is improving and he is able to preach from his wheelchair.  He will soon begin rehabilitation and is hoping to be able to walk.  They are having Bible studies in the homes of the Mayo Tribe.  Four people were saved this month.  Brother Bonifacio and his family were very grateful for the visit.

They visited the Yaki Tribe located just north of Obregon.  This is a tribe that no one has been able to enter.  They are completely against the Gospel being preached there.  Brother Eliezer Martinez, son of pastor Jose Martinez, feels called to take the Gospel to them.  Pray for Eliezer that God will open the door to go. The Seris Tribe is also near there.  “…The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few, Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

They also visited the work of Missionary Alfredo Ortiz and family in Miguel Aleman, Sonora.  Alfredo and Juanita are also graduates of the Bible Institute.  They are working with different ethnic groups and have a good group of people that have been saved and baptized.

We are thankful for the safe trip and for the way the Lord led and blessed them.  Each one returned with a new vision to take the Gospel to those that have never heard.

Church Update

June 2016 - Greetings from the mission field in the northwestern part of Mexico. We praise the Lord for His goodness and blessings during the month of June.   The members of the Grand Vision Baptist Church are being faithful in witnessing and serving the Lord.

God opened the door by means of Luz Maria, a faithful Christian nurse and member of our church.  She works within small communities near our mission in Natáhuachi giving lectures to the youth about health and values.  She wanted to bring them to church, so when she finished with her lectures, she gathered about 30 of them and brought them to church on Sunday, June 12th.  They listened attentively to the gospel and three accepted Christ as their Savior.  Pray for Luz Maria and these young people.

Special Prayer Request

June 2016 - We began our Christian schools ministry in 1989.  More than 10,000 children and young people from the surrounding mountainous area have passed through our school ministry since its inception.  Three-fourths of them have received Christ as their Savior and many were baptized following their decision.  We were informed that the Mexican government has reformed the educational system and has created new rules that make it impossible for Christian Schools to comply with.  These new rules violate doctrines that are part of our Biblical beliefs.  We will be able to continue with our school ministry for the upcoming 2016-17 school year but we may not be able to continue with our ministry going forward.  Please pray with us that the Lord find a way for us to continue this special and effective ministry.

Christian School Graduation

June 2016 - We held our middle and high school graduation at the end of June.  Twenty-seven students received their diplomas.  Students are recognized each year for their achievements in three different categories – academic, physical education and spiritual life. Julissa Palma Rameriz received ”La Copa Maxima” (highest award) this year. I am proud of Julissa.  She is in my Sunday school class.  During the three years that she has been here, she accepted Christ and was baptized.  I am praying that she will come back in August to enter high school.

One of the three that was saved is Jose Castillo.  He was here fixing two of our refrigerators in the school kitchen. After completing his work, Pastor Martinez testified to him about the Lord.  He wasn’t saved and Pastor Martinez led him to the Lord.  He told the Pastor “Why hasn’t anyone ever told me about being saved?”.  This is our mission! To take the Gospel to those that have never heard.

We are happy to report that Pastor Martinez is home recuperating from his surgery.  Thank you for your prayers.  A special thanks to our home church, Tower Road Baptist Church, Pastor Jaramillo, and to all of those that sent special offerings to help with the expense of the operation.

September 2016 - “As we mentioned in our last letter, September was dedicated to missions.
