Greetings from Bocoyna, Chihuahua! I am happy to write this month’s newsletter from Bocoyna. My next doctor’s appointment isn’t until May, so I am thankful that I was able to come for a few months. It is good to see everyone and to see the blessings of the Lord upon the work here.
There are a lot of new people in the Grand Vision Baptist Church that have been saved and baptized over these last 18 months. The members are faithful, growing in the Lord, teaching Sunday School classes, singing in the choir, and accepting other responsibilities in the church. Two weeks ago, one of our faithful ladies went home to be with the Lord. She had been attending church services here for about 20 years. We will miss her, and we know that one day we will see her again in heaven.
Our missions continue to go forward. Pray that as the seed is sown in hearts it will bring forth much fruit.
Natahuachi Mission Update
The mission in Natahuachi celebrated their sixth anniversary on November 18th. There was good attendance, special music and Pastor Jose Martinez from the Grand Vision Baptist Church brought the message. There were a lot of first-time visitors. Among the visitors was a family from the community of La Mayuca. They came on horseback, a three-hour ride! The mother, Paula Rascon, accepted Christ as her savior. The people in the mission are reaching out to the small communities that have never heard the Gospel. Pray that souls will be saved.
La Junta Mission Update
God continues to bless the Ebenezer Baptist Mission in La Junta. Their average attendance is around 60 adults and children. On Saturdays they go to a children’s’ home, teach a Bible lesson and provide a meal for them. On Sunday, they bring them to Sunday School, and several have been saved. Their prayer request this month is that God will supply funds to repair a wall around the house where they hold Sunday School classes.
Panalachi Baptist Church Update
God continues to bless the new church in Panalachi The members are faithful in attendance and witnessing for Christ. Ana, the daughter of Missionary Mario Zavala, continues to lead the teacher training classes. Pray for her, for the activities during the month of December, and that people will be saved.
Sonora Missions Update
Please continue to pray for Missionary Bonifacio Gonzales, missionary to the Mayo and Pima Tribes in Sonora, Mexico. They have detected cancer alongside one of his kidneys. He will soon have an operation to remove the cancer.
We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these challenging and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name. The following is a list of our current prayer requests:
- Pray for the Christmas Programs and activities in our Church and missions.
- Pray for the rest of the money needed to buy a van for the routes in the Panalachi Baptist Church.
- Pray for protection from illness and organized crime.
We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.
Sincerely in Him,
Mrs. Joan Kahler
