May 2021

Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church, our Pastors, and our full-time workers in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico. I received the following report from Pastor Martinez for the month of May.

Church Update

We are thankful that we have been able to return to regular services, but many people have not returned due to the pandemic. We are praying that they will return and be faithful in attendance. Many new people attended the special Mother’s Day services in the church and our missions. Five people accepted Christ as their savior.

Panalachi Mission

A group from Ciudad Juarez visited the mission on Children’s Day and brought shoes and bags of candy for the Tarahumara Indian children. There was singing and a lesson from God’s Word. Ten new people visited for the first time during the month of May, and thirty-one mothers were present during the special Mothers’ Day service. We are thankful that God supplied the funds for materials for the fence. A big THANK YOU to all of you that met this need. Our prayer requests are that the people will be faithful in attendance, that souls will be saved, and that soon they will be able to organize the mission into a church.

Teacher’s Day

We celebrated ¨Dia del Maestro¨ (Teacher’s Day) on May 23rd. We invited the local public-school teachers to attend the special service. We had many in attendance and most had never attended a service previously. They were very attentive to the preaching of God’s Word.

Christian School Update

We have been praying and having meetings with regard to the opening of our Christian schools and dormitories in August. The Board of Education has not yet given permission for schools to open. We are trusting that they will make a decision soon. Because of the pandemic and other circumstances, various of our teachers have made decisions to go to other places to work and serve the Lord. This means we can only continue with high school this year. Brother Adriel Martinez, Director of High School Education, is working to coordinate everything. Pray with us the Board of Education will grant us permission to open. Classes for the Bible Institute will begin in September. Pray “that the Lord of the harvest would send forth labourers into his harvest. “.

Prayer Requests

We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these challenging and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name. The following is a list of our current prayer requests:

  • Pray for the salvation of souls in the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its missions.
  • Pray for protection from organized crime and from the Coronavirus.
  • Pray especially for the mission in Natahuachi that more men will attend.
  • Pray for Pastor Jose and the 11 workers. That God will supply their financial, physical and spiritual needs.

We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.

Sincerely in Him,

Mrs. Joan Kahler
Missionary to Mexico

that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
