Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, and its missions across the mountains in northwest Mexico. February – a month of blessings!
During the first of February, an organization from the town of Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua came to the mountainous area where our church is located to distribute food to the Tarahumara and Mexican families. About 130 people from different towns and communities in the nearby mountains gathered at the Grand Vision Baptist Church to receive their needed supplies. Each family was given a bag of food and afterward, Pastor Jose Martinez preached a message of salvation. Ten people accepted Christ as their Savior!
Special Prayer Request
We requested in our last newsletter that you pray for the birth of a baby of one of our workers. Jackie gave birth on the 17th of February to a baby girl. Jochebed was born with a birth defect in her feet (club foot). She will be in treatment for a few months. We are thankful that God supplied the funds for this medical need. A special THANK YOU to those of you that helped. Please remember Jochebed in your prayers.
The GVBC 33rd Anniversary
February 28th was the 33rd anniversary of the Grand Vision Baptist Church. God blessed the service with about 100 in attendance. Two people were saved. Pastor Angel Ochoa, Pastor of the Gethsemane Baptist Church in San Juanito, Chihuahua, was the special speaker.
We are thankful that several families have returned to the services after a long absence due to the pandemic. There are still restrictions in place for church services, and we still cannot open the church and our missions to 100 % capacity. We pray that this will soon change as some people are being vaccinated already.
Christian School Update
Please pray that we will be able to open our Christian School for our middle and high-school students in August. We are waiting for the state of Chihuahua to give us the green light to open the schools for our students.
Missionary Mario Zavala and his family from the Panalachi mission are faithfully continuing to teach and preach the Gospel to the Tarahumara and Mexican people. Recently they held a service in the community of Okorochi. Two people were saved, and other Christians dedicated their lives to live for the Lord. God blessed the special services in February which are based on the same theme, “Mes de Amor” (Month of Love), as the Grand Vision Baptist Church. There were about thirty people in attendance.
We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these challenging and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name.
The following is a list of our current prayer requests:
- For the spiritual growth of those that have been saved.
- That God will provide the funds to purchase a van to use for the routes in Panalachi.
- For the salvation of souls and baptisms in the GVBC and its missions.
- Please continue to pray for my health.
We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.
Sincerely in Him,
Mrs. Joan Kahler
