August 2020

Greetings from Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico! Despite all of the changes we have had to make as a result of the Coronavirus, one thing hasn’t changed – the GOSPEL MESSAGE!

Church Update

Six people accepted Christ as their Savior and five people were baptized in the Grand Vision Baptist Church during the month of August. Various people in our church and in the missions have been sick and one lady passed away with COVID-19. Pray for Pastor Martinez, the workers, and the church people, for their protection from the Coronavirus and from organized crime. Many people have been affected by both lately.

Panalachi Mission Update

God continues to bless the mission in Panalachi. One man, Pedro, was baptized last month and the church people are faithful in their attendance and witnessing.

Christian School Update

Our hearts are saddened along with the students and their parents. Because of the Coronavirus, circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to open our Christian School this semester. This would have been our 29th year educating children from the area. God has used the Christian School to help young people with their education, and hundreds of children have been saved, baptized and their lives changed through this great ministry. We are trusting that God will make it possible to continue next year.

Bible Institute Update

Our Bible Institute will continue with all the safety precautions in place. Two young ladies and three young men have enrolled this semester. Pray that they will be faithful in their preparation to serve the Lord.

Health Update

I am still unable to return to the mission field due to travel restrictions. God has a purpose in everything He does and I’m thankful that I am still here in the States where I can receive treatment for any medical issues. This month, I was diagnosed with a small tumor isolated in my lower right leg that requires treatment. The doctors are confident that they can reduce the size of the tumor with radiation treatments and that it will not impact my daily life.

Prayer Requests

We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these unusual and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name.

Thank You for your prayers for my health. I have had Cataract Surgery and am thankful that it was a success.

The following is a list of our current prayer requests:

  • Pray for our protection from organized crime and from the Coronavirus in the towns where we are working, Bocoyna, San Juanito and Creel.
  • Pray for the salvation of souls in Grand Vision Baptist Church and our missions.
  • Pray that God will continue to supply the financial needs of the church and our missions. Many people are unemployed, and our offerings are down.

We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.

Sincerely in Him,

Mrs. Joan Kahler
