Greetings from Bocoyna, Chihuahua. We thank the Lord for you and deeply appreciate your faithful prayers and financial help. The world is paralyzed because of the coronavirus, but God’s Word is still being proclaimed.
Sheltering in Place
I am writing this month from the US. I traveled stateside during the first week of March to conduct my annual medical appointments and I have been here ever since. I am thankful that the doctors found no issues and that I am still in good health. I had planned to return to Mexico the following week, but the virus interfered! I will take advantage of being stateside to conduct some medical procedures. I will return home to Mexico as soon as the restrictions are lifted, and it is safe to do so.
God is blessing the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its missions. Mexico is under the same shelter in place orders as the United States. Pastor Martinez is transmitting our services via internet. We trust that the church people will be strengthened spiritually and that there will be souls saved. The people are constantly calling and asking when we are going to have regular services again.
During this time, Pastor Martinez, our teachers, and our Bible Institute students have been installing the new water tanks and they have been working in the mission in Natahuachi. They have also been conducting maintenance on the campus buildings and doing general clean-ups.
Christian School Update
On March 20th, the government gave indications that all students should return home and study remotely. Most of the students do not have access to the internet nor to telephones. We trust that they will be able to pass this semester by holding extra classes upon their return. All indications are that they will be returning to the classroom on June 1st. Pray that God will keep them safe and that that they will be able to return to their studies.
People in the missions are meeting in small groups, praying and reading the Bible. Two children were saved in the Panalachi Baptist Mission and many others are awaiting baptism. In Villa Juarez, Sonora, Missionary Bonifacio reports that souls are being saved. Pray also for the mission in Kipor and for Pastor Raymond Bustillos. Please continue to pray for Brother Bonifacio’s health.
We are thankful for God’s protection and His blessings upon us during these unusual and uncertain times. There are still many people to be reached with the Gospel, so we persevere in His name.
The following is a list of our current prayer requests:
- Pray for revival in the Grand Vision Baptist Church, its missions, our pastors, and our staff.
- Pray for the spiritual life of the church people
- Pray for Mrs. Ofelia Castro that is in the hospital in Chihuahua City. Also, pray for Mrs. Graciela Parra who recently had a stroke.
- Pray for Carlos and Belem Madrigal, Missionaries on deputation going to Japan. Pray that they will soon have all of the funds and the documentation needed to enter the country.
We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.
Sincerely in Him,
Mrs. Joan Kahler
