December 2019

Published by The Kahlers on

Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico. We trust you had a blessed Christmas and that you are enjoying the New Year. It’s hard to believe another year and another decade have gone by.

God truly blessed us in the month of December. Below are some of these blessings.

Christmas Celebration

We celebrated Christmas with our students, teachers, families and full-time workers on December 15th. This is always a very big event for everyone. We are thankful for all the people that made this celebration possible. Everyone received a Christmas gift, a bag of candy and a delicious dinner of turkey and all the trimmings. We always make “pine tree” cookies for the occasion. It is a tradition. We have made them at Christmas for the past 30 years. The students participated in the program singing Christmas hymns, and we heard various presentations. Brother Angel Ochoa, pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church in San Juanito, brought the devotional.

Annual Christmas Program

We held our annual GVBC Christmas program on December 22nd. There were a lot of first-time visitors from Bocoyna, San Juanito, Sisoguichi and Chihuahua. Each Sunday School Class presented songs and different musical numbers. The young people presented the Christmas drama, “From darkness to light”. One man and one lady were saved. The missions from Panalachi and Natahuachi brought groups of people to the event.

New Year Celebration

We held our end-of-year celebration on December 29th. We held it on Sunday morning due to the security issues in the area. We are not able to run the bus routes at night. We enjoyed a potluck dinner after the service, and we had a time of testimonies and fellowship.

We are thankful for God’s blessings, for the souls saved in the church and missions, for His protection and for His guidance upon us in 2019 and we are looking forward to serving Him in the new year.

Prayer Requests

The following is a list of our current prayer requests:

  • Pray for the new convert discipleship classes. That they may learn and be faithful to the Lord.
  • Pray that God will supply the funds for the extra expenses required at the beginning of the year.
  • Pray for the salvation of souls in the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its missions.
  • Pray for the 15 full-time workers. We currently have five families, three single ladies, one single man and me serving the Lord in the area.

We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers. .

Sincerely in Him,

Mrs. Joan Kahler
