Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its missions. We are grateful for the Lord`s blessings upon our Sunday School campaign “Brillando Para Cristo” (Shining for Christ). The church members and our friends were faithful in attendance during the month of July. Thirty people had perfect attendance, ten people visited us for the first time and six people were saved during this period. There were 62 adults and young people in the adult Sunday School class on the last Sunday of the month. Pray for the discipleship of those recently saved.
On July 5th, I had the opportunity to visit the Natahuachi mission along with brother Adriel, his wife Jackie and their sons. The mission holds their services every Friday afternoon. The construction of the classroom and storage room is almost complete. The ceiling in the auditorium is finished, and they are painting and putting on the final touches. There were many people in attendance. The people are always eager to hear God`s Word. One lady, Keila, and a man, Jacobo, were saved. Pray for Jacobo, as he has been very ill.
La Junta Mission
The Lord blessed the Vacation Bible School this year! The average attendance was around 50. Twenty boys and girls were saved. The workers picked up children from the surrounding ranches and from the areas around La Junta. The theme this year was “El Poder del Evangelio” (The Power of the Gospel), based on Romans 1:16. Pray for Brother Luis Carlos, Candi and their family as they continue in this mission.
A group of 15 young people from the Iglesia Bautista Getsemaní in San Pedro, Coahuila, pastored by Brother Miguel Guillen, visited the Panalachi mission on July 22nd – 26th. They came to help with missionary work. During their stay, they visited people in Panalachi, the surrounding communities and they even made a trip to Ocorochi to visit people there as well. They handed out tracts and witnessed to people. Two women in Ocorochi were saved. The young people were very impressed with the work Brother Mario Zavala and his family are doing with the Tarahumara Tribe.
They held their Vacation Bible School from July 28th through August 1st. There had about 30 children in attendance, many of who were first-time visitors. Pastor Ramiro Soto and his family from “Temple Bautista Tierra Nueva” in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, conducted the school.
Special Prayers – Water Tanks and Bus Tires Needed
Our two water tanks installed in 1989 are rusting and need to be replaced. These tanks supply water to the entire complex including the Administration Building that houses the kitchen, dining room, offices, classrooms, snack bar and our large auditorium where we have church services. They also supply water to my home and the residences of our teachers and full-time workers. The costs are as follows:
- Large tank (20,000 liters) will cost $44,000 Pesos (about $2,500 Dollars).
- Smaller tank (2,500 liters) will cost $4,500.00 Pesos (about $250 Dollars).
The other special prayer request is for two tires for one of our three church buses. The tires will cost approximately $380 Dollars. We would deeply appreciate any amount you can give to help with these needs.
The following is a list of our current prayer requests:
- Pray for the September enrollment of our Christian Schools and our Bible Institute, that God will supply the student’s financial needs to return. The new President of Mexico has withdrawn scholarship support for private school students that the Mexican Government was giving to the Tarahumara Tribe. It was a small amount but helped with their personal expenses. Most of the families are very humble, and it will be hard for them to continue their children’s education without this financial assistance.
- Pray for Pastor Jose Martinez and our staff members.
- Continue praying for our protection. Organized crime is getting worse.
We are deeply grateful to all of you that have stood behind us with your prayers and faithful support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers. .
Sincerely in Him,
Mrs. Joan Kahler
