Greetings from the Grand Vision Baptist Church and its missions. God has greatly blessed our February Sunday School campaign. The theme of our campaign was “The Christ-Centered Family.” New families attended each Sunday, and they listened to the messages attentively. Several people made decisions to be more faithful in church attendance and to serve the Lord as a family. One lady was saved, and there were 20 first-time visitors. Pray for the families of the church, that they may grow in Christ and serve him faithfully.
30th ANNIVERSARY OF THE GRAND VISION BAPTIST CHURCH
The Grand Vision Baptist Church celebrated its 30th anniversary on Sunday, February 25th. We had 390 people in attendance for the special service. Three of our four missions brought groups of people from their congregations. Missionary Bonifacio and his family live in Obregon, Sonora, and they were not able to attend. Mission Eben-Ezer in La Junta brought 19 people, Rock of Ages Baptist Mission in Natahuachi brought 19, and the Panalachi Baptist Mission brought 44 individuals.
My husband Louis and I moved to Bocoyna, Chihuahua in 1987 with a group of 30 teachers and students of the Bible Institute to begin a new work in the mountain area here in the state of Chihuahua. The Grand Vision Baptist Church was organized with 30 members the following year. The founding Pastor was Brother Eleazar Batres Cruz. We started our Christian School program in 1991 with 100 high school students. We later added the elementary and middle school programs. God has blessed us wonderfully, and we give Him all the honor and praise.
Approximately 10,000 students have come through our Christian School. Although most of the students have come from the surrounding communities, we have educated children from many parts of the country. About 80% of them have accepted Christ as their Savior, and approximately 60% of them were baptized. The Bible Institute continues to educate and train workers. Graduates from the institute are serving as Pastors, Missionaries and Christian workers throughout Mexico. Some of our graduates are working among indigenous tribes including the Tarahumara, Pima, Mayo, Huichol, Huasteco, Tepehuan, Cora, and Kiliguas.
We continue with our commitment to spread God’s word here in the mountains of Mexico. Pray for Pastor Jose Martinez, the Grand Vision Baptist Church, our Bible Institute, the Christian school and our staff.
Thank You for your prayers and financial help for this ministry over the years. You have made all these blessings possible.
The following is a list of our current prayer requests:
- Pray for the construction of the church building in Panalachi. That God will provide the necessary funds to complete the construction.
- Pray for the students of our Christian Schools. That God will help them be a good testimony to their families while returning to their home for the Easter Vacation.
- Pray for the mission’s trip that the Bible Institute students will be making on April 2nd through the 6th. They will be going to Batopilas in the Tarahumara mountains. The purpose of the trip is to train and extend their missionary vision to the Tarahumara communities in these areas.
We deeply appreciate your faithful prayers and financial support. Please continue to keep God’s work here in Mexico in your prayers.
Sincerely in Him,
Mrs. Joan Kahler
